Etherley Loop
From the car park on the Ockley road take the large sandy track uphill, at the first junction turn right, remaining on the wide track past a pond and up a fairly steep hill, near the top of the hill the sandy track turns left but you need to take the smaller path on the right, through a kissing gate and straight ahead to another kissing gate on the brow.
While crossing below Leith hill place by the Haw haw wall, please look at the view behind you.
You will come to a road just past the wall, turn left for about 50 meters then right over a wooden walkway, down beside a walled garden. Continue on this path until you come out on a wide sandy track. You can extended by going up the sandy track,( see below map) but the loop turns right down the vehicle track then right again at the next track.
Keep on this track as it makes it's way down the hill, between two fields and around the next wood. You should come out on a cinder driveway and just ahead to your left a kissing gate, continue diagonally across the field and between the hedges (another pond here for dog drinks) continue uphill alongside the hedge to the road. Turn right, past Etherley farm drive and take the next track on your left.
Walk more or less alongside the woodland edge, through a hedge, do not take the muddy path to your left but continue past to the next stile.
This should take you back to the original sandy track, turn left and left back to the car park.
